Gravel & Gold is an independent clothing and goods company based in San Francisco. We design and produce much of our clothing locally and thoughtfully source products from independent makers who share our values of craftsmanship, quality, and longevity.

We're a small, collaborative team that values curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement. Every role contributes to creating a thoughtful experience for our customers—whether they're visiting our shop, ordering online, or stocking our collection in their own stores.

The position

As a Part-Time Shop Associate, you'll be the face of Gravel & Gold. You'll welcome customers, help them find pieces they love, share the stories behind our products, and help maintain a beautiful, organized shop.

We're looking for someone who enjoys connecting with people, appreciates thoughtful design, and wants to help create an exceptional in-store experience. We'd love to count on someone who is warm, curious, reliable, and comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

1. Customer Experience

• Welcome every customer with warmth and genuine hospitality

• Build authentic relationships with new and returning customers

• Provide thoughtful styling and fit guidance

• Share knowledge about our clothing, materials, makers, and production

• Process purchases, exchanges, and customer inquiries

2. Shop Operations

• Maintain an organized, clean, and inviting sales floor

• Restock merchandise throughout the day

• Assist with visual merchandising and seasonal product changes

• Support events, launches, and special projects

• Open and close the shop

3. Inventory & Organization

• Assist with receiving new merchandise

• Maintain accurate inventory practices

• Communicate inventory discrepancies or low stock

• Support product organization and backstock maintenance

We're Looking For Someone Who

• Enjoys building genuine connections with people

• Has excellent communication skills

• Is organized, dependable, and detail-oriented

• Can work independently and take initiative

• Is comfortable learning new systems and technology

• Has retail experience (preferred but not required)

• Appreciates thoughtful clothing, design, and independent businesses

• Bonus Skills:

  • Experience with any of the following is a plus:

  • Shopify POS

  • Visual merchandising

  • Inventory management

  • Apparel or specialty retail
